FENNEL POLLEN RECIPES TO DIE FOR
Fennel pollen, though it has been known for quite a while in the foodie community, is just starting to become mainstream. The benefits of fennel are immense, and due to its unique and flavorful taste, it is quickly becoming a staple in many kitchens. To get an idea of some of the best ways to eat fennel pollen, take a look at a few recipes:
Chicken
One of the most popular ways to use fennel pollen is in a dry rub for spiced chicken. Mix the fennel pollen with your flavors of choice after dabbing a little bit of olive oil on the chicken, and rub it in before cooking it in the oven, as you would any other type of chicken. Throw in a side of wild rice, and you have a fantastic meal!
Seafood
We all know someone that complains that seafood has too strong of a taste, or that it's just "too fishy." Fennel pollen can help balance that flavor out. Like chicken, it can be used in a dry rub that goes on before you put the seafood on to cook. You can also use pollen to infuse a sauce with the exotic flavor.
Tuscan-style Pork
Who doesn't want a little taste of Italy once in a while? Fennel, where the pollen obviously comes from, grows abundantly in Italy, making it a popular ingredient. Jazz up your pork dish by making fennel pollen encrusted tenderloins. All you need is 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary, 3/4 teaspoon fennel pollen, 2 garlic cloves minced, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 (1-pound) pork tenderloin, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Combine the ingredients and run them over a tenderloin. Let it sit for an hour and the pop it in the oven!
A tasty fennel pollen recipe can take your meal to the next level. Herbs and spices both contain antibacterial and antiviral characteristics, and many are high in B-vitamins and trace minerals. They tend to taste better when added before or during cooking so that they can infuse the entire dish. Are you brave enough to try it?
